The trailer I rent is in the flight path of our local municipal airport. When I used to work at the bookstore and would be walking home in the evening it would completely surprise and delight me to look up and see a plane descending with its lights on. It happened regularly, but the thrill remained fresh. It felt close enough to touch. In summer I was even more amazed to find that the shadow of an airplane passing between the sun and earth looks just like--quelle surprise!--an airplane. Again, this would happen multiple times in a day, but the same childhood thrill jumped my stomach around each time.
The Prompt: Look at your day, and find something routine that still fires your imagination or charges you emotionally. Sketch it in words; capture the event or person, and also your response. Go. Now.
